Cheddar & District Funeral Directors are now in their sixth year in their dedicated funeral home. Situated on the banks of the River Yeo creating a relaxed and private ambience, giving clients a peaceful and comforting place to make their funeral arrangements. With its private arranging office and large dedicated chapel of rest, both having their own separate waiting areas, as well as a modern fully equipped mortuary, it really does offer all for visiting families. It also has its own large car park located outside the premises in the middle of Cheddar.
Ian Taylor-Rowlands has been involved in the funeral industry for 35 years since helping his father as a sixteen year old to becoming one of the youngest qualified directors in the country just two years later. As the family firm grew year on year into the successful business it is today, Ian gained the understanding and experience of the funeral business that is now being brought to Cheddar. Having lived locally for most of his life he is now married with a son and enjoys all local sports including Somerset cricket and Bath rugby when work allows him the chance to go.
Working with Ian and running the office is Kat Spencer, who having been brought up helping the family Funeral Directors has a local knowledge few can match. Having passed her certificate for Funeral Practitioner, she not only arranges and directs most services, but can also advise on monumental stones and give guidance on floristry, allied by our local florist, Bouquet in Cheddar.
We are affiliated with two associations – The National Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF) and The National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD). Being personally visited by the Chief Executive of SAIF, Terry Tennens, it has given us that further connection with SAIF and allowed us to gain confidence and experience in the services we offer to our local community.
As a family-run and owned business, we are able to keep funeral costs affordable, yet still offer a personal and professional service.
